Sampige Nite - Year end program

Date: December 10 2006 Time: 6:00 PM Venue: Hindu Bhavan (Small Hall)

An evening of fun and food. Program includes performances of dance, drama
and music by local talent, followed by a Haasya naaTaka by a professional group from DC
and ending with a grand musical entertainment by two excellent artists from California
who have impeccable professional background.

Arathi Murali, hails from a musical family and has been actively performing both in classical and light music programmes. Arathi featured in the Star Search Radio Program of "Anil-Ki-Awaaz" in NJ. She has provided playback for Tele Serials. She has been performing in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi light music shows including the recent Akka 2004. She has released her solo maiden classical album "Pranamanjali" a collection of Navarathna krithis of “Purandaradasa”. Apart from singing talents, Arathi is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer.

Madhusudhan Nandagiri has achieved a great deal in the film music realm. He has been performing light music concerts in kannada, telugu, tamil, hindi. He won the Andra Pradesh State GOLD Medal in 1979 in Hyderabad from Balala Academy and has won numerous awards like kalasagar, ugadi puraskar. He has many albums to his credit and has had the distinction of performing as the lead singer with almost all the top ranked artistes of South India including Smt.P.Susheela, Smt.S.Janaki, Smt.Chitra, Smt.L.R. Easwari, Sri.Mano, Smt.B.K.Sumithra. He was introduced to the light music scene by popular music director Sri.G. Anand. He has provided playback for movies and many popular Tele serials including ramayan and sri krishna. He recently performed at the Akka convention 2004.

This event is an opportunity for the Sampige gentlemen to exhibit their cooking talents. The tradition is ALL gentlemen will cook a dish and vie for the top prizes among different categories.

On I 40 take Davis drive exit and drive south on Davis Drive for about 3 miles.
From Davis Drive turn right into Parkside Valley Drive This is the entrance to the Breckenridge subdivision. Within half a mile, you turn left on Redwood Park. Club house is immediately on the left.

It will be an evening of enchanting music from famous compositions of Bhaktas of Karnataka such as Purandara Dasa, Kanaka Dasa, Basaveshwara, etc. Admission is free and food will be available for sale at a nominal price.
