Help-Nanjund

Dear Friends:
Our beloved friend Nanjund Shetty has been diagnosed with a blood disorder called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).  Individuals who have MDS have bone marrow that does not function normally and as a result they do not have enough normal blood cells for the normal functioning of the body.  The doctors at Duke Hospital have determined that a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) is essential for cure of MDS and his chance of survival.

Getting a right bone marrow match likely depends on the race and ethnicity.  Due to minority population of Indians and South Asians, the donor registry pool is small.

The registration process is very simple as described on the registry websites (e.g., www.marrow.org) or register at one of many donor drives.  You can go on the website to find out find out upcoming drives that are convenient for you (http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/Join_in_Person/donor_drive_search.pl?zip=27502&dist=50&x=0&y=0).

Please forward this to your friends and families and encourage them to register as a donor.  Since time is of the essence, we implore you to register immediately. Your kind support is highly appreciated.  If you have any questions, please contact Rishi Acharya (919) 949-4047 or any of the Sampige  Board Members.

Please Register as a Marrow Donor and help save lives!
